About this tool

QR Code Generator renders any text, URL, contact card (vCard), Wi-Fi credentials, geo-coordinates, or SMS template as a QR code in your browser. The QR specification (ISO/IEC 18004) is implemented locally — no server round-trip, no logging of your data — and the resulting code can be downloaded as PNG (any size), SVG (vector, scales infinitely), or copied to clipboard for direct paste.

Four error-correction levels are supported: L (7% recovery, smallest code), M (15%, default), Q (25%), and H (30%, allows logo overlay). Higher levels mean the code stays scannable even with significant occlusion or damage, at the cost of denser modules. Foreground and background colours are configurable; we enforce a minimum contrast ratio of 3:1 so the code remains scannable on standard reader cameras.

When to use this tool

Marketing materials. Print-ready QR codes for posters, business cards, and packaging — use SVG to keep edges crisp at any size.
Wi-Fi sharing for guests. Encode the SSID + password in WIFI: format; guests scan with their camera and join in one tap.
Contact exchange. Pack a full vCard (name, phone, email, company) into a QR code — much faster than typing the details.
Payment and crypto. Bitcoin or Lightning URIs, IBAN-based EPC QR codes, and ETH addresses all share the same encoding pattern.

About error correction and logo overlay

Adding a logo on top of a QR code overlaps some modules — the error-correction algorithm tolerates this up to the level you picked. Level H (30% recovery) is the safe choice for logos; level M may scan inconsistently if the logo covers more than 8% of the area. Keep the logo centred and under ~20% of the code's side length, and always test the result with multiple scanner apps before printing 10,000 copies.

Frequently asked questions

How much text fits in one QR code?

A lot — up to 7,089 numeric digits, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 bytes of arbitrary data at the largest size (version 40). Practical short URLs and Wi-Fi credentials fit comfortably in low versions that scan reliably. For ~100 characters use version 5–7; for 500+ characters use version 15+. The tool picks the smallest version that fits your payload at the chosen error level.

PNG or SVG — which should I download?

SVG for print and any large display (vector, infinite resolution); PNG for embedding in slides or PDFs where SVG support is uncertain. PNG at 1024×1024 is overkill for screen but harmless. For business cards aim for the QR side to be at least 1.5 cm (15 mm) in the final print; smaller and phone cameras struggle in low light.

Can I add a logo to the centre?

Yes — drop an image and the generator overlays it with a small white frame at the centre. Pair this with error-correction level H (30%) so the code still scans after the overlay covers some modules. Keep the logo under ~20% of the code's side. Test with iOS Camera and a couple of Android scanner apps before going to print.

Why is my code scanning slowly?

Three common reasons: (1) too little contrast — black-on-dark or white-on-light backgrounds need more processing; (2) the printed size is too small for the version — version 20+ on a 1.5 cm square is hard for any camera; (3) the surface is glossy and the camera sees reflections instead of the code. Bumping to a higher error-correction level usually fixes intermittent reads.
