Over deze tool

Check whether a domain name is still free to register. Enter a full domain like example.com for a single check, or just a label like myname to scan it against the eleven most-registered TLDs in one go — .com, .net, .org, .io, .app, .dev, .ai, .tools, .ua, .de, .pl.

The tool queries the authoritative registry first via RDAP (the modern JSON API that has replaced whois for most new gTLDs). When the registry returns HTTP 404 the domain is free; 200 means it is taken. For ccTLDs that still run classic whois (.ua, .de, .pl) we parse the whois text instead. Results are cached for ten minutes.

Why the status is sometimes "Unknown"

Some TLDs rate-limit aggressively or return ambiguous whois text. Rather than guessing, we mark those as Unknown and show the data source so you can verify yourself. Always run a second check at your registrar before purchasing — registries and registrars can disagree for a few minutes around registration events.

Veelgestelde vragen

Is this a real-time check?

We query the registry directly for each domain. Results are then cached for ten minutes to stay within registry rate limits, so if you re-check the same domain within that window you will see the cached answer.

Why did you limit bulk checks to 20 domains?

To keep the page fast and to respect registry rate limits. If you need to scan hundreds of candidates, split the list across several runs or use a paid domain-research service.

Why are some results "Unknown"?

A few TLDs (especially in the .ccTLD space) return whois text that is hard to classify, or rate-limit us. In those cases we avoid guessing and show "Unknown" plus the data source. You can then follow up manually at the registry.

Can I check IDN (non-ASCII) domains?

Yes. Enter an internationalized name like мій-домен.укр; we convert it to its punycode form before querying the registry and show both forms in the result.
